I n
view of the global emphasis on the critical
linkages between population growth,
environmental degradation and increased exposure
to health risks, the Institute has set up the
Centre for Population, Environment and Health (CPEH)
to undertake research in this area. Research
work undertaken at the Centre are primarily
related to the country's demand for a better
understanding of the population - environment -
health nexus which could assist policy makers
and planners in the integration of these
factors. The Centre will make recommendations
for policy and action by governments and
semi-governmental/non - governmental
organisations, and also raise the awareness of
these inter-linkages among the masses. The CPEH
is particularly interested in grassroot level
studies with the help of local resources and
organisation. The CPEH has plans to collaborate
with concerned organisations and institutions,
both nationally and internationally in its
research and other activities. |
