T he
Center seeks to move forward from conventional
political analysis to (re) imagining and
expanding the horizon of what constitutes the
“political”. It would work with expanded notions
of “democracy” that includes democratization of
society and of “institutions” that are not
restricted to the state and its organs. The
manner in which modes of power and resistance
structure and disrupt social ordering would be
explored. Studies of Trade Unions, Civil Society
Organizations, Community Based Empowerment
initiatives as well the household are as much
within the purview of this center. the crafting
of modern institutions and their conduct and
performance as well as the transformation of
traditional organizations will merit
consideration. Research on the modern state in
its colonial and postcolonial forms constitutes
an important agenda of the centre. |
