Ongoing Doctoral Thesis
 

 
 

The Institute offers Doctoral and Post-Doctoral research work with ICSSR fellowship (for details www.icssr.org ) support for scholars. For the award of D. Phil. degree, it is affiliated to the University of Allahabad (www.allduniv.edu). The Institute also provides a few short-term post-doctoral fellowships. Full time research work under the supervision and guidance of a core faculty of the Institute and regular interaction with visiting scholars and researchers lends adequate environment for training research scholars. Every year, the Institute also organizes a conference for doctoral scholars. The conference provides a platform for sharing research experiences, and training in inter-disciplinary research methods, and perspectives.

Broad disciplines in which the Institute admits students for its doctoral programme are: Economics, Commerce, Education, Management, Business Administration, Psychology, Political Science, Public Administration, Sociology, Social Work, and Social Anthropology. Opportunities are also available for doctoral fellows to work on live projects, being undertaken by the institute. Besides regular seminars and special lectures, workshops are also organized to train and acquaint research fellow in different epistemological and methodological issues.

Centrally Administered Doctoral Fellowships are awarded by the ICSSR on the basis of selection through an interview held at the office of the lCSSR, New Delhi.
The applicants for ICSSR Institutional Fellowship may send their application to the Director.

Eligibility

  1. Postgraduates in Social Science discipline with at least 55% marks.

  2. The candidate should have cleared National Eligibility Test (NET) for JRF /Lecturership or completed M. Phil. or should have two years research experience (a certificate to this effect to be attached from the concerned authority) or have at least two articles (reprints to be attached) published in professional journals in Social Sciences.

  3. For Institutional Fellowships. the candidate whether registered or not may apply. They will have to be registered / re-registered as the case may be with one of the faculty members of the respective institutes.

Age

The upper age limit for a doctoral fellow is below 35 years (relaxable by 5 years in case of SC or ST). In exceptional cases, where a candidate is found to have outstanding ability, the age limit may be relaxed marginally at the discretion of ICSSR.

Fellowship

The selected candidate will be paid a fellowship amount of Rs.6,OOO/- per month for two years, extendable by one year in exceptional cases only, plus Rs.12,OOO/- per annum as contingency grant.

In case of an employed scholar his/her salary is protected. In addition, a contingency grant of Rs.12,OOO/- per annum will also be paid. Duration of a salary protected fellowship will be for two years only.

The study intends to point out the processes underlying the generation of violent events in the society. The main objective of the study is to understand how feeling of anger and cognition originating from the perception of injustice affect the emergence of violence and to develop a psychological understanding of the factors which would govern whether people would be prone to behave violently perceiving a situation of injustice.
